Current Book:

Ok so I was reading the Third book in the Dead is Series, but I’ve decided  to change it, for the time being, because my daughter is obsessed with the movie Coraline and to be honest, I love this movie too n can’t help but wonder what the book is like. So to quench my curiosity my current book now is Coraline by Neil Gaiman...

Summary:

Coraline's often wondered what's behind the locked door in the drawing room. It reveals only a brick wall when she finally opens it, but when she tries again later, a passageway mysteriously appears. Coraline is surprised to find a flat decorated exactly like her own, but strangely different. And when she finds her "other" parents in this alternate world, they are much more interesting despite their creepy black button eyes. When they make it clear, however, that they want to make her theirs forever, Coraline begins a nightmarish game to rescue her real parents and three children imprisoned in a mirror. With only a bored-through stone and an aloof cat to help, Coraline confronts this harrowing task of escaping these monstrous creatures.

Gaiman has delivered a wonderfully chilling novel, subtle yet intense on many levels. The line between pleasant and horrible is often blurred until what's what becomes suddenly clear, and like Coraline, we resist leaving this strange world until we're hooked. Unnerving drawings also cast a dark shadow over the book's eerie atmosphere, which is only heightened by simple, hair-raising text. Coraline is otherworldly storytelling at its best.

Dead Is a State of Mind Review

Finally, I finished the second book in the Dead is Series by Marlene Perez.  Once again, it wasn’t very long but the witty teenage humor made up for it ten-fold. Daisy’s wise-crack thinking along with the rest of the colorful characters had me chuckling at times. I must say that I was just like Daisy growing up and can relate to some of the things she is going through well minus the whole psychic things since I’m not psychic and the whole weird town though mine is pretty strange so maybe I’m not too far off. Lol :D

I do have to say that the story is intriguing and has me hooked. I can’t help but wonder about Daisy’s father and his mysterious disappearance and the other secret society out to destroy all supernatural beings. Are they the reason he disappeared? Was ‘Duke’ telling Daisy the truth about him being alive? Will we see more of this deadly society in the near future? Well, there is only one way to find out and that is to read the following book in the series.  So ta-ta for now I’m off to read the next installment of the Dead is Series. Peace Y’all….

Current Book:

Dead is a State of Mind - Second book in the Dead Is Series by Marlene Perez.

Summary:

A creepy, campy new mystery series

Welcome to Nightshade, California—a small town full of secrets. It’s home to the psychic Giordano sisters, who have a way of getting mixed up in mysteries. During their investigations, they run across everything from pom-pom- shaking vampires to shape-shifting boyfriends to a clue-spewing jukebox. With their psychic powers and some sisterly support, they can crack any case!

There’s a gorgeous new guy at Nightshade High: Duke Sherrad, a fortune-teller claiming to have descended from Gypsies. Even though she’s psychic herself, Daisy is skeptical of Duke’s powers. But when a teacher who was the subject of one of his predictions ends up dead, she begins to wonder if Duke is the real deal after all.
Maybe if Daisy can track down the teacher’s killer, she can find out the truth. The only trouble is, all signs point to the murderer being of the furry persuasion. Is Daisy any match for a werewolf? Maybe she is . . . in more ways than she bargained for!

Ok so like I said in my review I'll be reading this book next :D Yay!!! Its only 119 pages so I should have a review by tomorrow though I'm gonna be busy tonight so i'm not sure if i'll have it finished tonight or tomorrow so it may not be till later in the evening. So peace y'all I'm off to read this book...

Dead is the New Black Review

Okay so I finished it. Wow was that short or what, only 125 pages usually the books I read are in the 300s but still this was a funny and cute read while it lasted.

I loved Daisy- the main character and heroine. She was witty in a way that only a teenager can be and I loved how she didn’t let her being “a norm” stop her from wanting to help her mother.

The interaction between Daisy and Ryan – Daisy’s best friend and love interest- was beyond adorable and had me thinking back to a time when dating was new and awkward – not that awkwardness goes away with dating lol

I’m a big supernatural buff so this was right up my alley with supernatural creatures, secret societies, psychic powers, and a mystery to boot. I can’t wait to read the next in the series which I am going to start as soon as I’m done with this review :D
